About Lemon_tree.studio

Hello everyone, I'm Lemon!

In the autumn of 2023, after working for many years, I decided to pick up my paintbrushes again and seriously study oil pastels as a medium.

My connection with oil pastels actually began earlier. During the pandemic, I saw someone on social media using oil pastels, which resemble crayons, to create very cute artworks. I instantly fell in love and immediately bought a 48-color set to try. However, the results were completely different from what I expected. Feeling confused and frustrated, I put the oil pastels away in a cabinet for another two years.

Later, I saw more and more thriving oil pastel creations on social media and liked them even more, so I decided to seriously figure out why I couldn't achieve the desired effects. Since Chinese resources were limited, I relied on my passion and experimented little by little, investing a lot of time and money, before gradually developing my own set of techniques.

Oil pastels cured my creative demons.

Even though I majored in art in college, after entering the workforce, due to work pressure, I became increasingly unconfident about painting. Every time I picked up a brush, I'd put it down again, and eventually, I just stopped painting altogether. It wasn't until I encountered oil pastels—a medium very similar to crayons from my childhood—that I rediscovered the joy of painting.

I believe many people are like me, wanting to paint but not knowing how to start, or worrying that they won't do well, and thus never truly pick up a brush. I completely understand this feeling because I've walked the same path and feel it deeply, especially with the shackles of my art degree, fearing I wouldn't paint well.

Painting is my healing time.

What attracts me most about oil pastels is that there's no single right answer. You don't have to worry about whether you're painting well or accurately, there's no complex color mixing, no tedious cleanup; you can just pick them up and start painting. It's like picking up crayons as a child, not thinking about anything, daring to draw anything—oil pastels helped me rediscover that feeling.

A mindset of learning regardless of age, rediscovering the joy of painting.

Through this course, I hope to help you let go of your doubts and worries about painting and rediscover that simple joy. You don't have to paint perfectly; gradually, painting can become a natural part of life—a lifestyle of your own.

No matter your age or skill level, just enjoy painting!
